How to prevent Windows from installing unwanted applications
One of the most annoying things that are encountered when buying a new computer prefigured with Windows, is all the software package that has already been installed on the machine itself. To be precise, we are talking about various applications such as that of Twitter, Amazon, Netflix, Candy Crush, and so on and so forth.
Windows gives us the ability to uninstall them, but we don’t know that we may find numerous other apps installed without permission in the future. All we can do is remove the possibility of doing this in Windows 10.
Let’s remove the automatic app installation setting
- We open the registry editor by searching for regedit in the Windows 10 bar
- Let’s go to the location HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ContentDeliveryManager
- We identify the SilentInstalledAppsEnabled key and set it to 0
- We can close the registry editor
In the unlikely event that we do not find the presence of the SilentInstalledAppsEnabled key we can create it in the position indicated above with the following characteristics
- Name: SilentInstalledAppsEnabled
- Type: DWORD (32-bit)
- Value: 0
