Let’s clarify the DualSIM

We technically explain the difference between the various Dual SIMs, because they are not all the same

Dual sim smartphones have been on the market for a few years and we all know their capabilities. What not everyone knows is that there are various dual sim technologies, and that if we are going to buy one we must be careful about what we are buying, because we could be disappointed.

The types of DualSIM

The DualSIM Single Standby, also called passive, is an obsolete system. The first was used by old cell phones, and was also applicable to some models that were not dual sim thanks to the use of accessories to be mounted under the battery. Its feature consists in keeping only one SIM active at a time. Practically the system was very similar to having to open the phone every time to change the sim with the one we needed, with the convenience that the switch could be done from a menu. Once one SIM was selected, the other was turned off and therefore was unreachable.

The DualSIM Full Active, also called DSFA, consists of systems that allow you to equip a smartphone with two distinct telephone modules, and that allows the use of two networks simultaneously. This means that smartphones with this module have the ability to manage two different calls, one on their SIM, and selecting a call pauses the call on the second SIM, and vice versa. It is a more expensive and expensive mode in terms of energy, but it has the great advantage of being able to use two different subscriptions as if we had two distinct smartphones. It is important to know that the data connection is active only on one sim, while the second can only manage calls and sms.

The DualSIM Dual Standby, also called DSDS, consists of systems much more used by modern DualSIM smartphones, as the production cost is lower and the energy needed to manage both sims is lower than the DSFA. Both sims are active in standby, and if a phone call is activated on one sim, the other is momentarily deactivated.

Owning an ASUS Zenfone 2, enabled with DSFA, I recommend purchasing DualSIM with this technology in case the second sim is used for professional activity, otherwise we risk losing important business calls while we are engaged in a phone call with the private sim.

Does DualSIM mean that I can have two Whatsapp accounts and two Telegram accounts?

WhatsApp does not allow the management of more than one number on a single smartphone, be it DualSIM or not. But it is a software limitation that allows you to manage only one number for each terminal. & Nbsp; Telegram instead allows it, but also in this case it is not a link with the DualSIM smartphone, in the sense that with Telegram it is possible to manage multiple accounts even on smartphones that have only one SIM.
