Earn money without doing anything with SlideJoy: My experience

The amounts you earn are small, but you can pay for a portion of your phone recharges with it

I’d like to make a small important clarification: always check the permissions of the apps you install on your smartphone. This article comes from my experience with the app itself, if you feel like using it after reading be aware that the app demands quite a bit of sensitive permissions.

A few months ago I discovered this app for Android that allows you to receive some money without doing anything. I should warn at the outset that the earnings are really minimal, we’re talking about 2 or at most 3 dollars per month, so if you already believe that it’s not worth trying, do not go further with the reading.

I’m always a little skeptical about earning money without doing anything, so I decided to try it out a couple of months before writing a review. The app basically works like this.

It is a secondary lockscreen that displays advertisements. Every time you unlock your smartphone you see that ad banner that serves to accumulate credits (diamond points) that are not updated in real time, but calculated every day at 19:00.

Every day, by keeping the app active, 80 to 150 diamond credits are accumulated to your wallet, and at the end of each calendar month you are calculated the current account, which can be withdrawn the following month. The accumulated diamonds can be turned into cash.

You can increase your diamond credits by downloading recommended apps or taking surveys, but I’ve wasted little time on it because it’s never given me an available survey, and I honestly don’t feel like wasting time to get maybe $1 or $2 more for that month. I’d rather get the minimum by doing basically nothing.

1000 diamonds equals $1, and you can choose to donate them to charity, or you can request either a credit to your PayPal account, or Amazon Gift codes.

PayPal account credits are not always immediate. The first credit happened in exactly 2 minutes, but the second one took almost 3 working days.

At this point, though, the right question to ask is: Is it worth using given the small gain you’ll recover? – In my opinion, yes. The app consumes very little battery, and in 1 month it made use of about 200MB of mobile traffic (away from home, I didn’t count wifi traffic), because at each unlock it contacts the server to download the advertisement of the moment. The monthly gain is really ridiculous, but at the end of the day you can recover a little more than 3 recharges of 10 per year.

My advice is to request payment each time you reach the minimum threshold (i.e., 2000 diamonds = $2), and not just leave them there to hover, for two simple reasons

  1. It’s not a bank, credits do not accrue
  2. It’s possible they won’t give them to you anymore. It hasn’t happened to me, but I don’t trust anyone… so….

You find the free app on the Play Store
