What is RDAP

We salute the WHOIS and welcome the new protocol

RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is a new protocol ready to replace the WHOIS, considered outdated as it is no longer compliant with the GDPR.

WHOIS is a database query system that contains data of domain name owners, and has been in use for more than 2 decades. This system allows anyone to access this data violating the privacy of those who own the domains.

RDAP, unlike WHOIS, allows access to this data only if in possession of the necessary authorizations, allowing greater privacy to domain owners.
